We know you will enjoy this book so much...we hope you will help us entice Melissa to continue this series... :) What do you say?? One woman, one man, one Legacy, one chance to save them all. Something malevolent stalks the world spreading chaos and discord, targeting those individuals who are destined to provide a great service to humanity. Most are not aware of their sinister plots, but one is. To the casual observer, Scarlet is only a bicycle courier, however, she is so much more. When the shadows lengthen and evil walks, she is judge and jury, exacting justice. Perhaps some may call it an honor but she calls it a curse because she can't have a family or friends and can't relinquish it until the day she dies. With no help, she muddles through best she can, hoping to make a difference at the price of her own happiness. Gage Williams, Senior Detective, is searching for a mysterious vigilante who leaves behind a sea of destruction and a grateful public. When all the evidence points to Scarlet, he has to weigh it against his own heart. Is it possible the woman that has captured his attention is the one they are searching for? When the Legacy calls, Scarlet must answer. Even if it costs her everything. EXCERPT: She was concentrating so hard on Gage, she almost ran into a figure who stepped out of the shadows on the side of the track. He had appeared so quickly, she stumbled and almost fell again, saving herself at the last moment. “Excuse me,” she muttered, then moved to the right to pass him. He reached out and grabbed her arm, swinging her around and pushing a knife to her throat. His other hand pulled at her earphones. “Give it over,” he growled into her ear. She laughed dryly. “Are you serious? You are out on a running track, mugging people for their playlists?” He hissed, pressing the blade closer to her, causing a nick on her neck. She growled from the sting and the drop of her blood splashing on her sweatshirt top. “Oh, mister, you just popped the pooch.” He tightened his grip and she allowed herself to relax, falling limply toward the ground, grabbing his arm with both of hers and yanking sideways. The arm around her waist tightened as the one poised at her neck pulled away. She used her downward momentum to draw him off balance, pulling his knife arm sharply down over her shoulder. The impact jarred the knife loose and she threw him over her shoulder. He landed with an oof, eyes glazed in surprise. She twisted the arm around, shoving him over onto his stomach, and kicked the knife away. Thrusting her knee into his back, she hissed at him. “Didn’t your mother tell you no hands on the first date?” “Jeez, Scarlet, what the hell?” She looked up and smiled sweetly as Gage stopped a few feet away, bending at the waist and panting. “Oh, you mean my new friend here? He was just expressing his admiration of my music choices. I was teaching him a few manners.” Leaning down slightly she said,” Mr. Creepy, meet Detective Gage Williams.” Buy Your Copy Today! |
