Christina Rhoads

When did you first start writing? What made you want to be a writer? I first started writing in the third grade. I would go on these long walks and tell myself a really exciting story and then when I came home, I would try to capture a little of the magic on the page.
What inspired you to write your book? A trip to Montana. I simply fell in love with the mountains.
Are you a pantser or a plotter? Both
Do you have any writing rituals or special processes you complete before sitting down to write? The only lasting ritual I have is the need for caffeine!
What authors inspire you? My fellow Inkspell Authors! They’re amazing! I also love Susanna Kearsley and Kathleen Eagle.
If you could only write in one genre for the rest of your career, what genre would you choose? Why? Romance
Which of the characters in your current release is your favorite? Why? Elsie. I just feel so much sympathy for her.
What music was on your playlist while writing your novel? Classical only. I can’t have music with words playing while I write.
Morning person or grumpy bear? A little of both, haha.
Tell us one thing it would surprise us to know about you? I was homeschooled until college.
What is next for you? The third and final Bear Dance Ranch novel and the then a timeslip noel set in Wyoming during the late 1880’s.
Do you have any unique skills or talents? If so, what? I was a horse trainer for years, and still actively ride and own Arabian horses.
If I were to look in your closet right now, would I find frills and lace or demin and tees? Denim for sure but also lots of frills!

Blurb:
After the death of her mother and end to her troubled marriage, Lenora Ranvier is feeling more alone than ever before. She takes her aunt and uncle up on their offer to come and live on their failing cattle ranch in the Montana Mountains.
Lenora hopes to grieve and start over but has no plans to fall in love again. All that changes the moment she meets Clay Darkhorse, Lakota cowboy and foreman of Bear Dance Ranch.
Clay knows Lenora is the woman for him as soon as he sees her climb out of her pickup truck, exhausted and beautiful. He slowly wins over Lenora by taking her on long night horseback rides into the starry mountains but both Lenora and Clay have past traumas to heal before they can freely love again.
Joining forces they convert the ranch from a struggling cattle operation into a swanky guest resort. But Lenora and Clay must learn to trust each other if they are to share a love as true and strong as the mountains in which they live.
EXCERPT
Despite the slow pulse of a headache, Lenora did not want to leave Clay. What she really wanted was to sit with him quietly, to show him she loved him more than she feared a broken heart. She needed a quiet night to say those words to him; a night to ride in the mountains, to feel the brush of stars and the smell of pine sap on the breeze. Instead, she went to his bedside, and with the nurse, his mother, her aunt, uncle and his brother all watching she bent and kissed his pale lips. When she pulled back his eyes were open, and that half smile she so loved slowly appeared on his face.
“Maybe I should tell those young colts to try and kill me more often.” Clay said. “Seems you like me better hobbled and in bed.”
Was it her imagination, she wondered, or was he flirting with her in front of his mother. Her face was hot, and she could not look up from the bedsheet.
“Please, don’t ever let it happen again,” Lenora said.
