Submission Guidelines

Inkspell Publishing is looking for category romance novels, priced under $4.99 or under and sold digitally and in print (Print runs are not a guarantee. Authors will need to refer individual contract) with specific selling market targets in order to move into the print market.

We are looking for three specific types of stories but all our stories remain centered on romance and relationships.

Contemporary Romance: We’re looking for modern stories centered on strong women who face and overcome the challenges of today with a smile. These should be adult women of age over 18 and can range from being humorous to snarky. The emphasis should be on fast-paced romance and we expect it to be dialogue-heavy.

Spicy Romances: We are also looking for a steamier read. These sizzling stories continue to focus on love and relationships but with a more sensual nature. These stories feature more fast-paced, intense dialogue and electrifying sexual tension as well as contain some more graphic descriptions of what goes on behind the bedroom doors. Please note, we are not looking for erotica. Only a steamier read.

Contemporary Young Adult Romances: Young adult romances are a staple for Inkspell Publishing and we would like to continue to showcase stories that feature young adult women and men as they learn about themselves, the world around them, and begin to experience love. These stories must focus on the relationship between the young lady and man as they experiment with what love is and how to handle those feelings in mature social situations.

Specifically, we want:

• High-quality, and polished storytelling
• Creative twists to common storylines like friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, boss-secretary, etc.
• Alpha males and strong heroines who can challenge the alpha male
• Tight dialogues that further the story instead of stalling it
• Strong conflict, and a happily-ever-after or a satisfied ending to satiate the reader
• Manuscripts must be 55-70K words in length, with longer and shorter stories considered on a case by case basis.

3.      Participate actively in conferences, online chats and promotions created by our team.

4.      Be active in online communities with other authors, including Inkspell authors and participate on our blog and website.



To submit a manuscript for consideration, please include in your email cover letter:

• Real Name & Pen Name
• Title of Story
• Story genre
• Book length
• Blurb
• Publishing experience
• Any awards or writing affiliations
• Website and contact information
• Microsoft Word attachment with your completed manuscript and a synopsis of no more than 5 pages
• If previously published work, please attach reversion of rights letter from previous publisher. 
  
• Write the title of the book and genre in the subject line. 

Manuscript Formatting:

Inkspell accepts standard eBook manuscript formatting, which is as follows:

• Paper size 8.5” X 11” 
  
• 12pt Times New Roman 
  
• Margins: Top/Sides/Bottom = 1”
  
• Line spacing – 2.0 (double spaced)
  
• Tab: .5 
  
• No Headers 
  
• Page numbers, left side on bottom of each page 
  
• Page breaks in between chapters 
  
• Chapter numbers written out (Chapter One, Chapter Two)
  
• Chapter headings, bolded and centered
  
• Use three asterisks between scenes - ***
  
• No bolding except for chapter headings
  
• Non-justified left margin
• No use of formatting within the document such as Header 1, Header 2 etc. 
  
• Thoughts of characters in Italics
  

Please be sure that your manuscript has been thoroughly edited and is free of spelling and grammatical errors.

We do not accept anything involving rape (even as "titillation") - remember it's about the emotional memory that impacts the current event that is important, not beastiality, or pedophilia.
