We all have dreams....goals we want to achieve. Maybe it's winning the lottery or losing ten more pounds but sometimes our dreams are much bigger. For some of us, we dream of bright lights and finding love. We give everything of ourselves in order to reach our dream, even if it hurts our hearts or damages our friendships. Mackenzie was living her dream... or was she? BLURB: Mackenzie Tanner was living the dream. At least that’s what she thought. When Mackenzie Tanner met world-famous boy band Dear Juliet while songwriting in Nashville, Tennessee, she never imagined it would lead to being the opening act on their worldwide tour, or the broken heart which would follow. As they play to sold-out audiences across the globe, Mackenzie realizes her dream may not be what she thought it was. Singing with the boy she loves and the boy she's supposed to love leads to a tangled mess. But Nashville is on the horizon... EXCERPT: Jake grabbed her arm. “I don’t want to make a scene. Can we please speak privately for a minute?” “You don’t want to make a scene?” Mackenzie scoffed. “The boy who showed up an hour late in the middle of my show doesn’t want me to make a scene?” “I can explain.” “No, you can’t.” She pulled away from him. “You knew how important this was to me. And after everything we went through today—what could have possibly been more important than you being here for me?” Jake shifted uncomfortably. “It’s a long story.” “That’s not good enough.” “Kenzie,” he begged. “Please, I’m sorry.” She shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. “That’s the problem, Jake. You keep saying you’re sorry, but then you keep breaking my heart.” “I’m not—” “No, enough. I don’t want to talk about it.” “Why not?” he pleaded, reaching out one more time. She jerked back. “Because I don’t want to cry at the Bluebird Cafe.” Mackenzie picked up her guitar and left Jake standing speechless. She took a steadying breath, put on a practiced smile, and walked out of the building. The cameras and cheering from the waiting fans would have thrown anyone else off following such an intense confrontation, but later, in the pictures from that night, no one would be able to tell what had happened behind the scenes. After all, Mackenzie was getting good at pretending, too. Fall for the boys in the band in Tangled on Tour! |
