Two people, one flat. Can they learn to share the space and get along? Or will the sparks between them lead to romance?

Author Jennifer Raines' Choosing Family series is about people who may not be real family but have become one. In AN ACCIDENTAL FLATMATE, Casildo and Beatriz are needing some space from their families as they reevaluate their futures. These two find ways to support each other, just like a family.

AN ACCIDENTAL FLATMATE is an emotional read filled with realistic relationships and romance. All of Jennifer Raines' books feature a deep message and happily ever after. Now up for preorder, AN ACCIDENTAL FLATMATE releases on July 8th.

Blurb:
Join award winning author Jennifer Raines in this story combining heat with heart, as two gentle souls find a champion in each other until their love is threatened by promises they made.

With her father injured at work, Beatriz Gomez willingly shoulders the financial responsibility for her family. Now, bills are mounting, a colleague stole her ideas to win the promotion she desperately needs, and her sisters blame her for everything. Bea needs time out, so moves into her best friend’s temporarily empty apartment. Then Casildo, a professional acquaintance, walks in the door. He’s outraged on her behalf, and that’s … a lovely surprise. But Beatriz has promised to go home.

Casildo Hariri knows this is his last chance. He’s earmarked every second and every cent in the next few months to launching his long-dreamed of textile design company. So, he doesn’t have time for the luscious, talented, unavailable Beatriz who’s in residence at the apartment he thought was empty. Except she’s been wronged. Someone needs to encourage her to rebel, and he’s on the spot. After all, the apartment has two bedrooms, although it doesn’t take long to discover one is more than enough. To his secret delight, Beatriz champions his dreams. That’s before she detonates them by telling him why she has to go home.

When Beatriz is cheated out of a job she deserves, Casildo encourages her to rebel, until she breaks the rules by breaking his heart. Can they find a way together while pursuing separate dreams?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Australian Jennifer Raines writes contemporary romances set mainly, but not exclusively, in Australia – think Malta, Finland, New Zealand or ? A dreamer and an optimist, her stories are a delicious cocktail of mutual respect, passion and loyalty because she still believes in happily-ever-afters.

Jennifer fell in love with romance as a teenager. Starting with historical romance. Everything in the school library and then a treasured collection of Georgette Heyer, hard copies, paperbacks and ebooks. Comfort food, she calls them, like Vegemite toast, for those times when she feels low. Her library of comfort food has grown over the years but Georgette Heyer was an early star, under the blankets after lights out using a torch.

Jennifer is a member of Romance Writers of Australia. Three times a finalist in the Emerald competition, including in 2017 (Common Cause, renamed Lela’s Choice), 2018 (Taylor’s Law) and 2022 (Quinn, by Design – Choosing Family Book 2). She’s a member of Romance Writers of New Zealand, winning the Pacific Hearts competition twice, including in 2019 with Grace Under Fire, the sequel to Taylor’s Law. She’s also a member of Romance Writers of America and has been a finalist in chapter competitions in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (Taylor’s Law). Jennifer won the contemporary romance section in the 2020 Orange Rose Contest for Planting Hope and was second overall. While rarely entering them these days, Jennifer values competitions for the constructive, honest, not always comfortable feedback they provide.

In 2023 Jennifer placed second in the Romance Writers of New Zealand Koru Best First Book with Taylor’s Law.

Jennifer loves those days when words flow and the joy of writing makes the hard slog worthwhile. She’s always made up stories about strangers in the street, in a café or strolling through an airport terminal; finding inspiration in snippets of conversations, news items and the sheer puzzle of human interactions.

Jennifer lives in inner-city Sydney, Australia, with the requisite number of partners (1) and animals (2). Her desk overlooks a park which nourishes her soul when she raises her head from her keyboard. She gets some of her best ideas during long yin yoga poses or walking—including around the block. While Jennifer adores historical romance, she chose to write contemporary because she thought (wrongly) it needed less research while she was holding down a full-time job.
